Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery
Tom graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2015 with First Class Honours in a combined clinical and research degree. He began his career in a busy general practice hospital, gaining broad hands-on experience before completing a rotating internship at the Queen’s Veterinary School Hospital, University of Cambridge.
Following his internship, Tom spent time working as an emergency veterinarian across rural Australia before returning to the UK to complete his surgical certificate. He then worked as a referral surgeon in a referral centre in Suffolk between 2021 and 2025.
In 2025, Tom began providing in-house surgical referrals to practices across Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. He has particularly enjoyed working closely with local veterinary teams and feels privileged to be able to deliver advanced surgical care within familiar clinic environments. Tom takes great pride in the care he provides and remains deeply committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for his patients.
WHAT WE OFFER
We bring a surgical referral service directly to your practice, allowing you to offer advanced orthopaedic, soft-tissue and neurological surgery in-house.
We provide all the necessary surgical instruments, implants and consumables and take these away to be sterilised so you're not left with any extra work at the end of the day.
We are proud to genuinely care about both our patients and clients and believe that this drives the attention to detail, standard of care and personal nature of our service.
BENEFITS OF IN-HOUSE SURGERY
By keeping the cases in-house, this maintains your close client relationships and your patients can be treated by a team that they know and trust. You can then offer advanced procedures in your clinic without having to invest in expensive equipment and lengthy training, as we have done this on your behalf. This is often lower cost for your clients and your clinic does not lose revenue by referring elsewhere.
FREE X-RAY INTERPRETATION AND CASE ADVICE
We happily offer free X-ray interpretation and advice to help support you in the diagnosis and management of your cases. Just contact us here with your questions and include any relevant imaging and clinical history.
CONSULTATIONS
We encourage clients to book a consultation, as we love to meet people face to face. We believe that client relationships and dedication to clear communication is vital for excellent patient care.
OUR PROCESS
2. CASE DISCUSSION
Following our initial contact, some clinics prefer to discuss cases over the phone or email, or to set up WhatsApp groups with a selection of vets, nurses and practice managers to organise cases together.
3. ON THE DAY OF SURGERY
We will arrive with all the necessary equipment and consumables needed for the procedure. All we need is a nurse to monitor the anaesthetic and any medication required.
Our aim is to provide a pre-operative consultation to discuss the surgery and to answer any questions your clients may have. If this is not possible, then we will call the patient's owners before and after the surgery to ensure communication is always maintained.
4. FOLLOWING SURGERY
We will support you through the aftercare period and provide interpretation of follow-up radiographs. Should there be any concerns at all, or even just if the client prefers, we also offer post-operative consultations to ensure the best outcome can be achieved for our patients.
ORTHOPAEDICS
We provide a wide range of advanced orthopaedic procedures.
SOFT-TISSUE
We provide elective soft-tissue surgeries for canine and feline patients.
NEUROLOGICAL
We also offer spinal surgery to treat intervertebral disc disease.
PRACTICE REVIEWS
We are very fortunate to have Tom as a visiting surgeon. He is always approachable and supportive when we need case advice. He takes the time to see cases through, admitting patients personally and speaking with owners to ensure they understand the process. We trust him completely with our patients and know they are in safe, capable hands.
It is clear that Tom cares about his patients, following their progress even after his job is done. He takes the time to speak with clients about their pets, providing them with the personal service we wanted to retain.
